Birthday Party

On, July 6th, we held a Birthday Party for Sachi, Sakiko and Rinako. There were 9 people, Sachi, Sakiko, Rinako, Yukari, Reika, Ai, Misaki, Naoko and I. We went to a restaurant, R・K・T's. We enjoyed eating, drinking and talking there. We had a good time!

The star festival

We have the star festival as an annual event in Japan.
According to Chinese legend,a god separated a pair of stars that were lovers. Since the Weaver (Orihime) was so lovesick for the Cowherd (Hikoboshi), she did not do her work, and the got put the Milky Way between them.
After that, they can see each other only on the night of July 7th. So, the day is celebrated as the star festival, based on the legend.
People write their wishes on strips of colored paper, and hang them on the branches of leafy bamboo and put them outside at night.
So, of course, I wrote my wishes on a piece of paper and hang it.
By the way, my brother, Hirotaka, said a sad story. I was very surprised at his story.
He said that it will take 15 light-years to get to the Milky Way from the Earth. So, my wish will reach the Milky Way when I am 35 years old. And then, he added that the answer from there will come back when I am 50 years old. He adviced me that I should write wishes for myself after 30 years later.

Book Review +a:A Bear Called paddington

I have a paper back book, and I will introduce this book, A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON. This book was written by MICHAEL BOND. It was first published in1958 and followed by ten more books.
This book is organized with PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR, A BEAR IN HOT WATER, PADDINGTON GOES UNDER GROUND, A SHOPPING EXPEDITION, PADDINGTON AND THE “OLD MASTER”, A VISIT TO THE THEATRE, ADVENTURE AT THE SEASIDE, and A DISAPPEARING TRICK.

I would like to explain two of those stories.

PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR:
Mr. and Mrs. Brown first met Paddington on a railway platform. In fact, that was how he came to have such an usual name for a bear, for Paddington was the name of the station.

It seemed to be sitting on some kind of suitcase an around its neck there was a label with some writing on it. The suitcase was old and battered and on the side, in large letters, were the words WANTED ON VOYAGE. And it seemed a very unusual kind of bear. It was brown, and it was wearing a most odd-looking hat, with a wide brim. When Mrs. Brown peered at it, it the Bear stood up and politely raised its hat, revealing two black ears. “Good afternoon,” it said, in a small, clean voice.

He used to live with his Aunt Lucy in Darkest Peru, but she had to go into a home for retired bear. So he came all the way from South America to England by himself. To tell the truth, he was a stowaway.

Then, Mrs. Brown caught a glimpse of the writing on the label. It said, simply, PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR. THANK YOU.

After consulting, Mr. Brown asked the Bear if he would like to come and stay with them. He jumped and his hat nearly fell off with excitement, and answered “Oooh, yes, please. I should like that very much. I have nowhere to go.” While Mrs. Brown went to meet her daughter Judy, Mr. Brown and Paddington went to the buffet and Paddington had a cup of tea and a large cream-and- jam cakes. But, he caused trouble; he ate the cake with his paws and he became sticky with it. And in the taxi, which they took to their home, the taxi driver got angry with the sticky bear.

PADDINGTON GOES UNDER GROUND:
Paddington travels on the underground with Mrs. Brown and Judy. At the station, but finds himself in a spot of bother with one of the inspectors.

And when he tried to run up the escalator, he felt himself falling. He went bump, bump, bump all the way down before he shot off the end and finally skidded to a stop by the wall. Then he found a button of the escalator and it said, in big red letters: TO STOP THE ESCALATOR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY PUSF THE BUTTON. It also said in much smaller letters, ‘Penalty for Improper Use - ￡50’. But in his hurry Paddington did not notice this, and he was scolded by the passengers.

Essay 3:My introduction 20 years in the future

Introduction
I will introduce you myself 20 years in the future.

Body
Now, I am thirty nine years old. I am a teacher of a high school and teach English. I am in charge of a third year student. So, I am very busy with giving them guidance of academic and career counseling.

I got married with a man ten years ago. He is also a teacher of a high school. We graduated from the same high school and we met again at the high school where we were working. Both of us have already transferred from that school to other schools and we are not at the same high school now.

We have two kids. One is a eight-year-old girl and another is a five-year-old boy. My daughter takes lessons on the piano on Saturdays. I took her to the piano lessons, and after her lesson, we go to Starbucks. We have coffee and cakes, and enjoy talking. My son likes playing baseball. Also, he likes watching baseball games. So, my husband and my son go to the baseball field near our house on Saturday, while my daughter and I are not at home.

Conclusion
At school, I have a lot of work and I have to arrive for work at 7 a.m. When I give guidance of academic and career counseling, I get home at 8 p.m. As you see, I am busy with my school and I can not spend much time with my kids on weekdays. So, I try to spend time with them on weekends.

Essay 1: A self introduction letter to a host family

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith,

Hello, thank you for your hosting.

My name is Miyo T. I am going to stay with you for 6 months. Thank you for your hosting.

First, I will introduce myself. I was born on sixth January and I am nineteen years old now. I live in Kumamoto prefecture of the Kyushu district. It is hot and humid in summer. on the other hand, it is cold in winter. There are four people in my family; my father, my mother, my brother and me. I love dogs and have two dogs. One is a Miniature Schnauzer and another is a Mongrel Dog. I like watching baseball games. In fact, I was a coach's assistant when I was a high school student. So I am looking forward to watch baseball games in America.

I go to Prefectual University of Kumamoto. I study English there. I would like to be a teacher and teach English at high school or junior high school. Now, I teach English and Math to junior high school students at cram school as a part time job.

I have been to Montana and Liverpool. So, this is the second time to stay in Montana. However, each stay was less than two weeks. This time, I will stay with you for six weeks and I am very happy.

Next, I would like to ask you some questions.

1. How many people are there in your family?

2. How long does it take from your house to the college?

3. I don’t smoke cigars and don’t like tobacco. If you smoke cigars, I will ask you to smoke outside.

4. I heard that it is very cold in winter. I don’t know how cold it is in Montana because this is the first time to stay in winter. Please tell me what to wear and what I should prepare.


I want to improve my English skills. So, please tell me when I make mistakes. Also, I would like to know about your culture.

"Book Report" from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!"

Kids are singing and doing their homework. The theme of the book report is about Peter Rabbit.
Lucy is writing her book report. She says, ‘Peter Rabbit is a stupid book about this stupid rabbit who steals vegetables from other people’s gardens’, and counting how many words she has written.
Schroder, who likes playing the piano, is typing his report with the piano rhythm, as if he is playing the piano. He polishes up his sentenses many times. After he concentrates typing report, he starts playing with computer game.
Charlie is looking over many books about Peter Rabbit. He analyzes them seriously. Then, he saw some boys playing baseball, and he says that he wants to play.
After a while, they start their homework.
Lucy tries to increase the number of words and use ‘very’.
