On Dec. 3rd, we discussed about birth rate. Recently, birth rate is raising little by little, but it is still low. Nobi (Masami) is a single mother and she has a seven-year-old girl who goes elementary school. Goda (kota) is a single father. His son (?) is 5th grade of elementary school. Actually, I did not think that these two people were related to this topic because they had already their children. Minamoto (Mai) had just married and she had no children. She is working so that she was worried about raising children up in the future. Now, they can have child care leave for 1 year and it is not enough for them. She wants to have child care leave for 2 years. Honekawa (Kasumi) has studied in France. France has the highest birth rate in EU. She thinks that this is because people in France can take child care leave longer than other countries, and after they get back to their work, their working time is shorter and have more time to take care of their children. Also, it is admitted to give birth without marriage and many old women give birth. In other words, the environment for giving birth and raising up children is better than Japan.
Finally, they found 4 things which will help this problem: increase child care leave allowance, discount system for familly who has children (costs such as transportation, zoo, museum) , child care service in the working place, the right to decide how long they work.
In the class, we were confused because it was unclear if they are talking about the birth rate in the future, or the past. Of course, they wanted to find the problems and why the birth rate is low, and by considering these problems, they will solve the problem. However, I think they should set the theme clearer to make the discussion easy.
Also, I thought that we need to learn a lot of systems in the society.

Discussion#8:Grade Skipping (Nov.26)
Last week, we talked about Gread skipping in the class.Taro (Airi) is a 5th grade student at elementary school. He is smart and he is good at mathematics. So, he wants to skip the grades to study more. Hayashi (Fumika) is an elementary school teacher. She is in neutral position. she thinks that skipping grades will cost less money, and this will help many parents and students. On the other hand, she is worried the lack of communication skills. she thinks that it is hard for students who skipped the grade to talk with students who are different from their age. Lee(Hiroya) is from China. Actually, he skipped some grades and he entered the university when he was fourteen years old. However, he is also in neutral position. He was satisfied with this system because he was happy to study and be awarded. But, he couldn't make special friends because of the generation gap. Koizumi (Chika) is the Minister of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. He disagrees with this system because he wants to treat all students equally because he needs to offer compulsory education in Japan.
About communication, Hayashi suggested to take quiz to make sure skipped students' communication skills. Lee added to take this test for all students because all students will be required to be good at communication. But, Taro stated that he wanted to be tested by his ordinary behavior. I also think that usual communication and the communication at test are different and teachers shouldn't judge students by only test.
I think the quality of teachers should be raised if they want to introduce Grade skipping system. And, I think that compulsory education such as classes at elementary and junior high school are really important for students. Even though they are good at some subjects, maybe they are not good at some fields and their understandings are not enough. So, they shouldn't skip their grades. Discussion#7:Daylight Saving Time
On November 19th, Moderator (Ryoji), Satsuki (Sakiko), Nikaido (Sachi), Saori (Kamazuka) and Amasawa (Reika) discussed if Japan should introduce Daylight Saving Time system. Satsuki is working at the government, and she explained what the merits are: Decrease traffic accident; Save energy; economic ripple effect. Nikaido is working at a commpany, and she is at the neutral position. She thinks that earlier starting is good because it will save the energy. However, durin the DST, workers can't do overworking. So, it is not good for her that overworking becomes less. Also, she thinks that it is trouble some to change all the clocks at the office. Kamazuka is a housewife. She has a daughter and she is worried about her daughter's condition because she has to get up earlier if they introduce DST system. She thinks that her daughter will fall asleep in school classes. Amasawa is an elementary school teacher. She thinks that introducing DST system is good for children because students can go home before it gets dark and it is very safe. Also, students who belongs to club can do their activities more.
Kamazuka's problem was solved soon because this system would introduced on Sunday, and it is good for people to adapt to the time. However, it will cost 100,000,000,000 yen to introduce this system because they need to cange soft ware for compuers and medical care. Discussion#6: Medical Bill Free
On 12th November, we had a discussion about medical bill free. If we don't have to pay for medical bill, the government need to burden all the medical cost. So, we talked about how to get the money. The best way to get money is to raise the tax. And then, what kinds of taxes should we raise?
The moderator is Mikako.
Ume (Nanase) is 70 years old and she lives with her husband.Both of them have chronics and they go hospital once a week. They are living by the money from pension. Therefore, their lives are hard and their lives will be harder if the government raise tax even though they can take medical for free.
Tomozo (Chinatsu) is neutral position. He is a smoker and he doesn't want the government to raise cigar and alchole taxes, and he is for raising the comsumption tax.
Kyoko (Aya) is rich and she doesn't care to pay for medical care bill. However, she disagree with raising income tax. She is paying 40% for income tax now.
Miyu (Mami) has 2 children. She rarely go to hospital and maybe thinks that she doesn't need this system. She disagree with raising tax anyway.

We had to talk about what kinds of taxes wee should raise. However, we talked about who can take medical care for free.
First, I want to state what kind of taxes we should raise. I think the government should raise the cigar and alchole taxes because these two are bad for health. If the price are cheap, more people will buy those bad things for health, and they will go to hospital at last. This is waste of money. Why the government must pay the medical bill for those who know smoking and drinking are bad for their health?
Second, I also think that the system in Sweeden is good. It is the best that all people can take medical for free. However, sometimes it is impossible... Then, we need to make the limitation. About the limitation, I think that we should consider those who have serious diseases and disabilities, not only based on their income.

Discussion#4:The Government should give cell phone to elementary school children.()
On Oct. 29th, we talked about if the government should give cell phones to elementary school children to save them. The moderator was Hiroya. He introduced other members. Ms. Sakamoto (Misaki) has a daughter. She wants to give her daughter for safety, but she can't afford it because it it too expensive to pay the cost. So, she wants the government to support. Ms. Sato (Airi), who is a government officer says that they can't support all the cost, so they will pay some money. Ms. Miyagawa (Fumika), who works at a mobile phone company introduce some plan. Ms. Sato (Chika), who is 30 years old and working at a trading company, is single. So, she says that it is not fair for her that the government meets the cost for the cost of children's cell phone. Also, there are some problems to give cell phones to children.
First, we need to give cell phones which restrict to see dangerous sights such as dating sight and shopping sight. So, the cell phones for children will have minimum tools; telephone and e-mail service with parents, police and emergency services, and they can't use the Internet. However, as some students said, will children be satisfied with such cell phones?
Second, I think the number of students who die will increase. According to one survey, 30 children were killed in a year because they did not have cellphones. Discussion#3:Ambulance(Oct.22nd)
Today, Dr. Shindo (Ryouji), Ms. Kashiwagi (Reika), Ms. Yone (Saori), Shizuko (Sakiko) and Sachi discussed about whether we should pay for Ambulance.
In Japan, we can call ambulance for free. On the other hand, people need to pay some fees for ambulance in other countries such as America, Canada and Australia. These days, the number of people who call ambulance in stead of using taxi is increasing, and sometimes people who really need ambulance can't use because all ambulances are turning out. They think that they will be able to reduce the number of people who call an ambulance for their minor injury if people need to pay some money (5,000 yen).
Ms. Kashiwagi is a government officer, and she stated that now the government is paying most of the cost for ambulance and they are in the red. Ms. Yone who often calls an ambulance will be inconvenienced if she has to pay for ambulance because she is old and has a chronic. Shizuko lives in a countryside and she doesn't have enough income to pay a fee for medical treatment.
I came up with some ideas, but I couldn't explain it in plain words.
First, I wanted to ask Dr. Shindo if he can tell the difference between patients who really need an ambulance and who are minor injured. If doctors can recognize the level of the injury, they can decide if the patients need to pay or don't have to pay. However, as the discussers said, it is difficult to define what the border is.
Second, I thought of a new system for people who can't go to hospital easily.
I asked Shizuko how much did it cost to go to hospital by taxi. She said that she paid more than 5,000 yen to go there. I think there are many people who don't have means of transportation. For example, people who are too old to drive a car, or their houses are far from public transportation. In this system, those who are inconvenienced to take medical treatment can go to hospital cheaper than using taxi.

Discussion#2:No my own car!(Oct.15)
Last week, Ms. Sato (Kasumi), Ms. Hirota (Ayumi), Ms. Yamada (Masami), Mr. Shiraki (Kota) and Mai talked about "No my own car".
In Korea, they have this system, and on May 30th, cars with even number can not drive, on the other hand, those with un-even number can not drive on May 31st. So, people who can't use their car will be able to take public transportation for free on those two days.
If this system, "No my own car" is introduced in Japan, people can't drive cars on the whole day.
We will have this day twice a month, on doubling day, 11th and 22nd. People can take public transportation system for 100 yen.
However, we don't have enough transportation system in country sides. So the government need to prepare the transportation system.
Also, people living far from station, bus stop and their office, like Ms. Hirota, or people who need cars for their work, like Mr. Shiraki, will have a lot of problems. To solve these problems, some people will be able to drive cars if they are applied by the city office.
As I wrote above, there are some problems which we should solve before introduction of this system. I think it is much easier that each people is care about the environment and try to use public transportation systems and walk instead of using their own cars. Then, the governments doesn't have to build new transportation systems, and people who need their car can use their cars.
I agree with Sach's idea. She said that we should practice this system in every company. I think that companies should make some rules. For example, people living near the office should walk to the company, or people should share a cabin when they need cars.
We should think about our behavior to reduce the emission of CO2.

Discussion#1:Paying for full-time houes workers(Oct.8)
In the class on Oct. 8, Mami, Aya, Minako, Nanase and Chinatsu had a discussion about whether the government should pay full-time house workers, or not.
If this system is introduced, full-time house workers will get 100,000 yen in a month, and people who work at both house and office will also get 70,000 yen in a month.
During the discussion, there were some problem which we should solve.
First, I don't know what house work is. Does house work include not only cleaning, cooking and washing but also taking care of children? If taking care of children is also house work, there is a big difference between people who have children and people who have no children. Also, if the paying is based on how many times they work, no one can be sure how many times they really work. Maybe some people won't tell the truth
Second, I think part-time workers or most of people whose salary is not enough will quit their job and they will be full-time house workers. Then, the government will need much extra money to pay those full-time workers. Also, if full-time house workers don't have the duty to pay tax, it is not equal for a permanent part- timer whose earning is not enough.
Third, I couldn't under stand who is adapted to house workers. Are men who are single also do house work. Some students who live by herself/himself also do house work. Will they get 100,000 or 70,000 yen, too?

②Class on October 8
Today, some people speeched about their countries.
We learned some useful phrases which we can use at the opening or ending of our presentation.

We rolled the dice and decided our new identity. This is my new identity.
I am from Cambodia. I am a translaor. I like mortorbikes but I don't like hospitals.
Today's homework is to think about a presentation about my hometown. So, I wrote a paper about my hometown Cambodia.
I am from Cambodia. Cambodia lies on the Indochina peninsula in South East Asia and has borders with Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.
This is a map around Cambodia.
Cambodia is halt times as large as Japan and there are about 13 million people there. The weather is the tropical monsoon climate. From May to October, it is rainy season. On the other hand, it is dry season from November to April. Most People in Cambodia are farmers and they grow rice.
Cambodia is known as a country where a lot of mines were laid under the ground during the Vietnam War. However, we have great cultures, and I want you to know about them and visit my country.
Cambodia is famous for Angkor Vat, which was registered as a world cultural heritage in 1992. So, a lot of people from all over the world come to Cambodia to visit Angkor Vat.
Also, we have another world cultural heritage, Preah Vihear Temple. It was registered last year, in 2008, so few people know about this new building.
Takachiho
I went to Takachiho with Ayusa in August. Takachiho is in Miyazaki Prefecture, and it took about ３ hours from Yatsushiro by car.
Before we arrive at Takachiho, we went to Kunimigaoka where we can see a sea of clouds early in the morning. However, we couldn't see it because it was eleven o'clock.
Then, we went to Takachiho. We got into a boat and Ayusa rowed the boat. There was some falls and it was so cool!
After that, we had lunch at an old restaurant. We ordered'hiyameshi'. It is cool rice with miso-soup, cucumber, sesame and dried small sardines, and it stimulated our appetite.
In the afternoon, we went to Takachiho temple. We went around a couple of big Japanese cedar. They were jointed and it is said that the Japanese cedar will keep People be good friends forever if they go around it 5 times.

Aso Farm Land
During my summer vacation, I went to Aso Farm Land with Ayumi, Yukari and Sachi. Yukari drove a car and we arrived at Aso at noon.
We had lunch at a biking restaurant. After that, we went to 'Aso Earth Power Spa'. There are 13 kinds of hot kettles and we enjoyed all kinds. We were there about 4 hours.
In the evening, we exercised at a gym in Aso farm land. It was for only 5 minutes but we were tired a little. So, we went to the western restaurant for dinner. Since the meal was so gorgeous, I could not eat all dishes.
After we went back to our room, Ayumi and I went to Hot springs. There were many kinds of Hot springs and we enjoyed them a lot. Also, we could see a lot of stars from open-air bath.
At night, we watched TV and talked.
Next day, we tried 'Doctor Kiss Fish'. I did it for only 3 minutes because I couldn't stand. However, Sachi and Ayumi did it for 15 minutes!

Book Review1: The Picture of Dorian Gray Oscar Wilde
Dorian Gray is a young man. He is rich and beautiful. One of Dorian’s friends is a painter. His name is Basil Hallward. Basil thinks that it is the most important work to paint a picture of the young and handsome man, and he loves to paint Dorian Gray’s picture. On the other hand, Dorian doesn’t think that he is so handsome and beautiful until he met Lord Henry, who is a friend of Basil Hallward. Lord Henry sees Dorian at a party and he is attracted to Dorian, and Dorian is also interested in Lord Henry. Since then, they become best friends. After Dorian sees Lord Henry, Dorian realizes how beautiful he is, and then a lot of strange things happen to Dorian.
Dorian loves Sibyl who is an actress. She is beautiful and her acting is very good. However, one day, she acts a poor musical because she wants to quit being an actress to get marry with Dorian. So, Dorian gets angry and he tells Sibyl that he doesn’t like her. Sibyl is very shocked and she kills herself.
One day, Dorian notices that his picture which Basil painted is changing. Dorian hasn’t got old but his picture is getting older. It is so strange that he hide the portrait in the old schoolroom. Then, Basil come to Dorian, and asks him to show the portrait. At first, Dorian refuses to show it, but he shows it before Basil leaves for Paris. However, Dorian kills Basil after Dorian shows Basil the portrait. After the case, the hand of Dorian in the portrait changes, his hand turns red.
Finally, Dorian got angry and pushes the knife which Dorian uses to kill Basil with into the picture. Then, there are a cry and a crash. There is Dorian who gets old on the floor and he is dead. On the other hand, Dorian in the picture becomes younger.
Dorian loves Sibyl who is an actress. She is beautiful and her acting is very good. However, one day, she acts a poor musical because she wants to quit being an actress to get marry with Dorian. So, Dorian gets angry and he tells Sibyl that he doesn’t like her. Sibyl is very shocked and she kills herself.

Birthday Party
On, July 6th, we held a Birthday Party for Sachi, Sakiko and Rinako. There were 9 people, Sachi, Sakiko, Rinako, Yukari, Reika, Ai, Misaki, Naoko and I. We went to a restaurant, R・K・T's. We enjoyed eating, drinking and talking there. We had a good time!
The star festival
We have the star festival as an annual event in Japan.
According to Chinese legend,a god separated a pair of stars that were lovers. Since the Weaver (Orihime) was so lovesick for the Cowherd (Hikoboshi), she did not do her work, and the got put the Milky Way between them.
After that, they can see each other only on the night of July 7th. So, the day is celebrated as the star festival, based on the legend.
People write their wishes on strips of colored paper, and hang them on the branches of leafy bamboo and put them outside at night.
So, of course, I wrote my wishes on a piece of paper and hang it.
By the way, my brother, Hirotaka, said a sad story. I was very surprised at his story.
He said that it will take 15 light-years to get to the Milky Way from the Earth. So, my wish will reach the Milky Way when I am 35 years old. And then, he added that the answer from there will come back when I am 50 years old. He adviced me that I should write wishes for myself after 30 years later.

Book Review +a:A Bear Called paddington
I have a paper back book, and I will introduce this book, A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON. This book was written by MICHAEL BOND. It was first published in1958 and followed by ten more books.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown first met Paddington on a railway platform. In fact, that was how he came to have such an usual name for a bear, for Paddington was the name of the station.

It seemed to be sitting on some kind of suitcase an around its neck there was a label with some writing on it. The suitcase was old and battered and on the side, in large letters, were the words WANTED ON VOYAGE. And it seemed a very unusual kind of bear. It was brown, and it was wearing a most odd-looking hat, with a wide brim. When Mrs. Brown peered at it, it the Bear stood up and politely raised its hat, revealing two black ears. “Good afternoon,” it said, in a small, clean voice.
He used to live with his Aunt Lucy in Darkest Peru, but she had to go into a home for retired bear. So he came all the way from South America to England by himself. To tell the truth, he was a stowaway.
Then, Mrs. Brown caught a glimpse of the writing on the label. It said, simply, PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR. THANK YOU.
After consulting, Mr. Brown asked the Bear if he would like to come and stay with them. He jumped and his hat nearly fell off with excitement, and answered “Oooh, yes, please. I should like that very much. I have nowhere to go.” While Mrs. Brown went to meet her daughter Judy, Mr. Brown and Paddington went to the buffet and Paddington had a cup of tea and a large cream-and- jam cakes. But, he caused trouble; he ate the cake with his paws and he became sticky with it. And in the taxi, which they took to their home, the taxi driver got angry with the sticky bear.
PADDINGTON GOES UNDER GROUND:
Paddington travels on the underground with Mrs. Brown and Judy. At the station, but finds himself in a spot of bother with one of the inspectors.
And when he tried to run up the escalator, he felt himself falling. He went bump, bump, bump all the way down before he shot off the end and finally skidded to a stop by the wall. Then he found a button of the escalator and it said, in big red letters: TO STOP THE ESCALATOR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY PUSF THE BUTTON. It also said in much smaller letters, ‘Penalty for Improper Use - ￡50’. But in his hurry Paddington did not notice this, and he was scolded by the passengers.

Now, I am thirty nine years old. I am a teacher of a high school and teach English. I am in charge of a third year student. So, I am very busy with giving them guidance of academic and career counseling.

Book Review 13: BABE The Sheep-Pig
Farmer Hogget has some sheep-dogs, horses and ducks and a lot of sheep in his farm. One day, he buys a pig. His name is Babe. He was a little pig with no mother. The farmer’s sheep-dog, Fly, loved Babe and taught him many sheepdog lessons. Babe is a clever, polite little pig and all the animal like Babe. But, Mrs. Hogget wants to kill Babe because she wanted to make a Christmas dinner for the farmer. One day, Babe helped his boss, Farmer Hogget and then, he learned to talk to the sheep. Farmer Hogget made a plan. He wanted to take Babe to the British trials for sheep-dog!
Farmer Hogget is a good person, and all the animal in his farm are also kind to Babe. Babe likes everyone in the farm. Why all the animal liked him? Because he was a polite pig and he also be kind to everyone. I read another series, Babe – pig in the city last week. That was an exciting story, but this one is an emotional story.

Book Review 12: HARRY and the Lady Next Door
Harry was a white dog with black spots. He loved all his neighbors, all except one. He did not love the lady next door. The lady next door sang high and loud. When she sang, Harry’s ears hurt. Harry tried everything to make her stop; he howled under her window with his friends, but it did not do any good. The lady next door went on singing, and she sang higher and louder than ever. He tried everything to make her stop; He leaded some cows and the Firemen’s Band to the lady’s house. However, he could not do any good.
A few nights after that, the family took Harry to the park. They were going to hear the Firemen’s Band, but there was no horn player. Instead, they had a singing contest. There were some women on the stage. The lady next door was also on the stage. Seeing her, Harry ran away. Then he found a watering can. In fact, there were two frogs. He brought the can and ran back to the singing contest.
Thanks to Harry, the lady next door won the First Prize at the singing contest! It meant she could study music in a far-off country for a long time! He was the happiest of all. Soon the time came for the lady next door to go away. Harry went to the ship with the family to see her off. This time, the lady next door was singing again. However Harry thought it was the most beautiful good-bye song he had ever heard.

Next morning, they left for the town. First, they went to the station and got on a train. After they got to the own, they went to Toby’s house. But it was not easy for Pipin to walk thorough the busy street. They enjoyed their dinner in the kitchen … however, a cat suddenly appeared and ran after them.
Next morning, Pipin went back his home in his country.
I have read this book in Japanese when I was child. But I felt they had some differences. The pictures on this book are very cute and it is fun to see them.

Leo lived with his granny in a tall house in the middle of town. He was an utterly ordinary boy such as you could find anywhere, but his life suddenly changed. One day, the Chancellor and the Prime Minister came to their house to see Leo. The Chancellor said to Leo,’’ Sire, your great-great-great-great-great grand father has died, and you are to be king!’’ Leo had never expected to be made a king, so he was very confused. However, the Chancellor said,’’ there is no time to lose.77 and he led Leo to a grand coach and whisked him away. After Leo arrived into the castle, he went looking for a book to read. When Leo said that he wanted to read all the books, the Chancellor shouted,’’ Stop!’’ and said,’’ Those looks aren’t well, safe…’’ In spite of the warning, Leo opened a book. The title was ‘The Book of Beats’
I thought this story, about a boy and a dragon, would be interesting when I saw the cover. However, the most exciting thing for me in this book was when the white horse came from a book. Also, I think The dragon which came from the book is not so bad animal.
For the first time, I did no like Leo and he was a bad king. However, he tried hard to find the dragon to stop destroying. Now, I think he is a great king.

Book Review 9: Alice in Wonderland
Alice was getting tired of sitting with her sister. She had tried reading her sister’s book, but as it didn’t have any pictures or people talking, it was very dull indeed. She was just wondering whether to pick some daisies for a daisy chain when a white Rabbit ran past. She didn’t care the White Rabbit because seeing a rabbit was not so very remarkable. However, when the Rabbit took a watch out oh its pocket, she jumped up. She chased after it and was just in time to see the Rabbit pop down a large hole. In a flash, Alice followed. Alice saw a lot of strange animals and people there. It was the entrance of the Wonderland!
I am not sure if I could understand everything in this story, Alice in Wonderland, because most things which happen in this story are so strange. There are a lot of strange animals and people in the Wonderland, but I think they are so interesting. I like the White Rabbit which led Alice into the Wonderland. However, I did not understand what the White Rabbit wanted to do and what happened to Alice.
I want to try the wonderful drink and cake!

Self Introduction 10:Travel experience
I went to Montana which is the sister city of Kumamoto prefecture when I was 15 years old.
I visited the Glacier National Park and the Yellow Stone National Park. I saw the Grand Canyon in the Yellow Stone National Park. There were many wild life there and I had a good time there.
I did a home stay there. Both my host mother and father were kind to me, and many friends who lived near the house came to the welcome party.
Now, my host mother and I sometimes exchange e-mail.
When I was 16 years old, I went to Liverpool and I did a home stay. It was the winter and it was so cold, but I felt that the winter in Britain was better than that in Japan. I think that was why the air in Britain was more refreshing.
As most of you know, it is always rainy in Britain. Even if it is fine in the morning, it will rain in the evening. Also, it is foggy in the morning. I think that I could understand why people in Britain often talk about the weather.
I was surprised when I saw a squirrel on the street, in front of the house. In addition to this, I saw a vehicle which can sail on both the water and street. It was a yellow car like a bus.
The most exciting things which I had there is that I spent the Christmas day there. There were a lot of presennts. I think that there were more than 20 present for each person. Alos, I watched a soccer game between the Liverpool F.C and Boston F.C on New Year's day. I had never watched a actual proffessional soccer game, so I was very excited.
BY the way, I call at Hong Kong before I went to Britain. I was there for only six or seven hours. But, I had a lot of interesting experiences there. It was very hot because Hong Kong is near the epuator. I remember that it was about 30 degrees Celsius in December. I want to visit there again when I have much time to see there.
I visited the Glacier National Park and the Yellow Stone National Park. I saw the Grand Canyon in the Yellow Stone National Park. There were many wild life there and I had a good time there.
I did a home stay there. Both my host mother and father were kind to me, and many friends who lived near the house came to the welcome party.
Now, my host mother and I sometimes exchange e-mail.
When I was 16 years old, I went to Liverpool and I did a home stay. It was the winter and it was so cold, but I felt that the winter in Britain was better than that in Japan. I think that was why the air in Britain was more refreshing.
As most of you know, it is always rainy in Britain. Even if it is fine in the morning, it will rain in the evening. Also, it is foggy in the morning. I think that I could understand why people in Britain often talk about the weather.
I was surprised when I saw a squirrel on the street, in front of the house. In addition to this, I saw a vehicle which can sail on both the water and street. It was a yellow car like a bus.
The most exciting things which I had there is that I spent the Christmas day there. There were a lot of presennts. I think that there were more than 20 present for each person. Alos, I watched a soccer game between the Liverpool F.C and Boston F.C on New Year's day. I had never watched a actual proffessional soccer game, so I was very excited.

Self Introduction 9:Part time job
I teach English, Math, Japanese and sometimes Science at cram school for junior high school students and elementary school students. I started this part time job just one year ago. It is not easy to teach subjects, but I am happy when students can understand.
Sometimes, I proctor an examination which is often called Kenmoshi in Japanese. When I do it, I mark of the examination, too. It is interesting because it is a kind of simulated experiences of teacher's work.

Self Introduction 6:Hometown
I was born in Yatsushiro and I have lived there for about 20 years. There are about 140,000 people living in Yatsushiro. Yatsushiro is famous for Tomato, Mat rush (Igusa), Banpeiyu, Kuma river (Kumagawa), Kappa, Myouken festival and Fire works. Myouken festival is one of the three most famous festivals in Kyusyu (Kyusyu sanndai matsuri). Also, Fire works which is held in October is very famous, and many people come to see it from all over Japan!

I have 2 dogs. One is Ruiji and Another is Charo. Ruiji is a male and he will be 8 years old next November. Charo is a female and I don't know how old she is because she was an abandoned dog. Ruiji doesn't get on with Charo. Everytime he sees Charo, he gets angry and barks. So, Charo hates Ruiji. On the other hand, Charo loves cats. When she finds a cat, she runs in the garden and whisks her tail.

Baskin Robbins
Last Friday, Azusa and I went to Uto City Mall to see Yukari. She works at Baskin Robbins. It was the second time for Azusa and me to go there to see Yukari. We watched Yukari for a while. Then, we ordered 3 kinds of ice cream. I ordered Cream Soda, Rock'n' ball chocolate and bananas'n strawberry. I recommend you to try Cream Soda which is one of the season flavors.
Lunch at Nabeshima
On June 21st, I went to Nabeshima with my friends. Of course, we had Yakiniku there. There are some friends who work at Nabeshima. So, they treated us some special menu. Usually, we have one drink, but one of the friends gave us another glass of orange juice. After the meal, another friend brought us soft cream! We had a good time there!!!

Durian & Coconut Candy
Yesterday, Mr. Tomei gave us souvenir from Vietnam. It was a durian and coconut candy. I had ever heard about durian, but I never had durian. So, it was the first time for me to eat durian. At first, I hesitated to eat it because I knew that durian had a powerful smell.
After the class, Nao and I talked about that candy and if we should try or not. Finally, we decided to try it.
The moment I chewed it, I felt strange and wanted to take it out. However, the candy sticked to my teeth and I could not take it out. So, I continued chewing to remove it. Then, gradually, it started tasting coconut and I didn't feel bad. So, I decided to continue to chew it, and finally, I ate it up!

Farewell party
On June 19, I went to the farewell party for USNA students. There were a lot of people there. Some students were wearing their uniforms and they looked so cool! I took some pictures with them. Two of them played the Koto, Japanese instrument. At the end of the party, every students made speech for their host families in Japanese, and it was so great!
After the farewell party, I went to karaoke with them. Some of them were really good at singing Japanese songs. I made some new friends and I had a good time there.
After that, I stayed at Naoko's house and we talked about the party. We were impressed by them.
I would like to see them again!

Salsa dancing
On June 18, I danced salsa with USNA students. That was the first time for me to dance salsa and I was afraid if I could dance salsa. At the dancing stadio, some people taught me how to dance salsa and I practiced it with my friends. After a time, I danced salsa many times with my friends to the accompaniment of music. Dancing partners helped me. Dancing salsa was not easy but it was so exciting! I want to try it again and practice it.
Single party
On June 17, I took part in the single party. There were some USNA students and PUK students. At the party, I made many friends. We talked a lot and I had a wonderful time with them. All of them were kind to us and their stories were very interesting!
Mixing with the USNA students
On June 16, I took a mixing class with the USNA students from Annapolis. First, we interviewed each other and asked some questions. Next, PUK students introduced our school and USNA students introduced their school. After that, we started talking with some snacks. We talked about what we like and what our dreams are. Also we talked about studying Japanese and English. Most of the students have studied Japanese for only 2 years, and they can speak Japanese fluently and they know a lot of Japanese words! I have studied English for more than 7 years. I think that their Japanese are very good and I have to follow them and study English more harder.

Self Introduction 3:My brother
My brother's name is Hirotaka. As I said before in Self Introduction 3, he is a first-year student in Yatsushiro high school. He plays badminton as a club activity. Also he is a member of the student council and he does the vice-chairman.

My trip to Britain
I am going to talk about my trip to Britain. I was sixteen years old when I went to Liverpool in Wales. I stayed there for two weeks. Through this experience, I had many strange experiences.
I went there by way of Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, I had much time to stay at the airport, so I took a sightseeing tour. However, the guide was very selfish and he tried to sell us many expensive goods. Also he took us to many famous places.
This is a view of Victoria Peak. People often say that this is a view you couldn't buy any sum like a million dollars. He might be kind, but we had only one hour before the time of departure when we arrived at the airport. So we were in a hurry!
After I arrive at Heathrow airport, other trouble happened. The airplane could not take off because of the fog. Furthermore, our luggage had not been delivered to Liverpool. And it took three days to get my luggage. Fortunately, it was the Christmas day! So I said to the deliverer that he was the Santa Claus!
Finally, I will introduce my host family . My host father was very big and looked like Shrek of Disney Character. My host mother was also big. She dyed her hair pink and she always wore pink clothes because she loves pink. She had many tattoos and had her nose pierced. At first, I was very scary, but gradually I became familiar with them. If occasion offers, I want to go there and see them again!

Book Review 7:BABE The Sheep-Pig
Farmer Hogget has some sheep-dogs, horses and ducks and a lot of sheep in his farm. One day, he buys a pig. His name is Babe. He was a little pig with no mother. The farmer’s sheep-dog, Fly, loved Babe and taught him many sheepdog lessons. Farmer Hogget is a good person, and all the animal in his farm are also kind to Babe because he was a polite pig and he also be kind to everyone. Babe likes everyone in the farm. But, Mrs. Hogget wants to kill Babe because she wanted to make a Christmas dinner for the farmer.
One day, Babe helped his boss, Farmer Hogget, and then he learned to talk to the sheep. Farmer Hogget made a plan. He wanted to take Babe to the British trials for sheep-dog! Finally, they were honored!
I read another series, Babe – pig in the city last week. That was an exciting story, but this one is an emotional story.

Snoopy in a bad mood
I will explain this movie.
First, Snoopy is reading at the library. He burst out laughing and he was very noisy. He was through out of there. There was a signboard in front of the library and it said that NO DOGS ALLOWED IN LIBRARY.
Next, Snoopy saw a boy called Linus. Linus always has his blanket. Snoopy teases him for his blanket, and Snoopy and Linus fought for the blanket. Linus started crying and Snoopy could not get it so he got angry.
Finally, Snoopy saw a girl called Lucy. She is strong-minded and she were boxing. Snoopy challenge her to fight with him and they started to fight. Snoopy is very strong and Lucy gets irritated.

Book Review 6:The Call of the Wild
This is a story about a dog, Buck, which became a sled dog in Canada.
Buck was a strong dog with a thick coat. He lived in a big house, Mr. Miller’s place, in sunny California. There were other dogs at Mr. Miller’s house, but Buck was the most important. He was the boss there, and he was very happy.
One day, Manuel, who worked for Mr. Miller, put a rope around Buck’s neck and left the house quietly. Manuel met a man at a train station, and the man gave Manuel a lot of money for the dog, Buck.
The year, 1897, was an exciting year. Some men found gold in the cold Arctic north of Canada and a lot of people followed them there. Everybody wanted gold. And they wanted dogs --- strong dogs with thick coat, like Buck.
Buck was not only strong but also clever and studied quickly. So many people thanked him and they amazed. However, the travel was too hard for Buck and his owners. One day, the owner whom Buck loved the best was killed, and Buck went crazy. He killed a lot of animals and people.
After few days later, Buck fought wolves and won. He became the boss of the wolves!
This story is not happy. When Buck went crazy, he was really crazy! Also, many sled dogs died because the trip was too hard. Probably this is a sad story. I think the Gold age was a terrible for dogs.

She was afraid and she tried to run away, but the monster said 'Stop.', and she stopped. The monster said 'Come here.' and she came. The monster pointed at a boy with blue shirt. The boy was afraid and he tried to run away, but the monster said 'Stop.', and the boy stopped. The monster said 'Come here.', and he came. The monster pointed at a girl with red top. She was afraid and she tried to run away, but the monster said 'Stop.', and she stopped. The monster said 'Come here.' and she came. The monster and three people made a circle. RKK invitation game
On May 23, I had the part time job and went to Fujisakidai stadium. It was the invitation game of RKK, and Keiougijuku high school was invited to the games. In fact, a school in Sikoku was also invited, but they didn't come because of the swine ful.
The games were very exciting because all of the teams were strong!

Class Exercise6: Sports
In Today's class, we talked about sports which we love and we hate.
I love baseball because I think teamwork is important and baseball is refreshingly and fun. However, I hate wrestling because it seems to be violent and painful. I don't want to see fights!
In the class, first, I interviewed Fumika. She loves Volleyball because many people (6 people) can enjoy it at the same time. Also, the rule is easy. On the other hand, she hates Marathon because it makes her very very tired!!
Next, I talked with Kouta. He reported Yukari's favorite sports and sports she hates. Yukari loves soccer because the rule is simple and soccer is fun. She said that soccer ball is very cute! Book Review 5:A Christmas Carol
Scrooge is the main character. The name, Scrooge means stingy. He is a cold, hard man. He loves money and doesn't like people. He hate Christmas. So, he has no friends.
One day, Marley, who was a Scrooge's friend and has already died, appears as a ghost. He tells Scrooge that 3 ghosts will visit Scrooge to set him right.
The first ghost was the Ghost of Past Christmas. The ghost's clothes were white and it had some Christmas holly in it's hand. And a white light came from it's head. The ghost takes Scrooge to where Scrooge was born. Here, Scrooge remembers his old days. Scrooge thought that the young Scrooge was a very nice young man. However, he remembers his sad past, too.
The second ghost was the Ghost of Christmas Now. It was a fat, merry person in a long green coat. The Ghost takes Scrooge to the house of Bob Cratchit who is Scrooge's clerk. In his house, the family was preparing for Christmas. Here, Scrooge finds that Tom's son, Tiny Tim will not be able to alive longer. Also, they visit Scrooge's nephew, Fred. He had a good Christmas party with his wife and his friends. Fred says that he is sorry for Scrooge because Scrooge has no friends.
The third ghost was the Ghost of Future Christmas. The ghost was in black clothes and Scrooge could not see its face but he could see only one hand. The ghost didn't speak and it did not move. The ghost takes Scrooge to a shop. Very poor people bring things to this shop when they want to sell them. Two women come there and they sell something left by an unhappy man. The unhappy man was not loved by anybody, Scrooge learns. Scrooge says that he wants to see the sad person and the ghost takes Scrooge to a graveyard. Scrooge reads the name of the grave. It was EBENEZER SCROOGE. Scrooge says that he will be kind at Christnas and all year. Then, he will change his future.
Scrooge was happy because it was the Christmas. He was very kind to everyone. He gave money to people and he helped Tiny Tim who was ill. Then everyone loved Scrooge and Scrooge was very happy!
This is a good story. It is not easy to change one's mind. Thanks to the 3 ghosts, Scrooge could learn a lot of things from his Christmas and he could ghange his mind and his future.
I want to watch a DVD of this story!

Huis Ten Bosch
In winter vacation, I went to Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki. I went there with Ayumi, Mina, Misaki, Reika, Sachi, Sakiko and Wakana. We took the package tour of JR so we can go there by train. It costed only 13,000 yen for the round trip fare between Kumamoto station and Huis Ten Bosch station, the entrance fee and the Hotel fee.

Pudding in the morning.
Last Wednesday morning, I had a class for TOEIC. Before the class, Reika and I went to seven-eleven and bought sweets. Reika ate an eclair and I ate a pudding! It is very pleasant to eat sweets!

Class Exercise5:Morning and Evening habits
We talked about out morning and evening habits.
I go to bed at 12 o'clock. Before going to bed, I prepare classes, take out contact lenses, brush my teeth and set the alarm clock. Sometimes I strech.
In the morning, I get up at 5:30. I wash my face, put in contact lenses, get dressed and make up. After I ate breakfast, I brush my teeth.
Mami goes to bed at 0:30 and before going to bed, she watch TV and drink water. She gets up at 7 o' clock. She eats breakfast and change clothes.
Syuntetsu goes to bed at 1 o'clock. Before he goes to bed, he brushes his teeth. He gets up at 7:30 and he listen to music.

Class Exercise4:Blood type and Sign
On May 14, we talked about our blood types and signs.
My blood type is B. Many people say that I don't look B. However, some friends who know me for a long time say that I am sometimes B. People whose blood type is B are said that they are selfish, don't care what others think and be apt to be moody. As a good point, they are frank.
I was born on January 6 and my sign is Capricorn. The symbol is horns of the Goat. According to the text, people whose sign is Capricorn think that their jobs are very importand and they are ambitious and have opinions about every thing. They always see the down side and sometimes think that only bad things will happen. They are narrow-minded in their thinking. There are not any good points for this sign...

Reika's blood type is O and people whose blood type is O are said that they are sweeping, sociable, unyielding and romantic person. Yes, Reika is romantic!

Fireworks in Yatsushiro
Yatsushiro has the national fire works in October. A lot of people come from all over Japan and there are many people in the riverside park, near KUMAGAWA. The scale of it is very big and many fireworks experts compete.
There are a lot of stalls (Demise, Yatai). They sell baked corn, French fried potatose, shaved ice (Kakigori), lga ware (Ikayaki), Takoyaki, Hashimaki, and so on!

I have two dogs. One is a miniature schnauzer. His name is Ruiji. Another is a mix. Her name is Charo.
Ruiji is 7 years old. He likes biscuits and bread. He wants to eat everything I ate. When I am eating something, he stands up and clap my arm to tell me that he wants to eat it. Miniature schnauzer has eyebrows and a mustasce. So, he is like an old man. He has long eyelashes. His tail is very short and very pretty!
I don't know how old Charo is because she and her puppy were abandoned in the mountain. She is very strong and she pulls me when I take her to the walk. She runs up to me when I give her biscuits, and runs away soon after she eats. She is a sharp operator, tyakkarimono in Japanese!

Book Review 4:PEANUTS Take a Hike, Snoopy!
Snoopy is a dog, the world famous Beagle. In this story, he is a scout leader and go hike with his friends, yellow birds. Those yellow birds have their own names; Woodstock, Harriet, Conrad and Bill. As a leader, Snoopy knows a lot about hiking and how to survive in the wildness, but his friends know nothing about hiking and what they should bring with them. In addition, those yellow birds always follow after Snoopy and gather around Snoopy’s feet. So, Snoopy teaches how to promote self reliance to them … but it does not help Snoopy. Just then, Charlie Brown, the owner of Snoopy is wondering where Snoopy and is friend are. And Charlie is happy when Snoopy comes home. So, he buys a big tent to sleep out side, next to the Snoopy’s dog house. Snoopy is also very happy to hear this and runs into Charlie’s room ... to sleep in the Charlie’s bed.
I love Snoopy and his friends. Snoopy changes his character story be story. Most of his stories are his imagination, and he often is a hero in his stories but it is very interesting to read his experiences.
Book Review 3:MATILDA
Matilda is a 5-year-old girl who can read novels do multiplication mentally. She is a genius. She also has telekinetic power. Thanks to the powers, she revenge herself on her parents and the headmistress of her school.
This story is very interesting. Matilda is a sweet girl who is only 5 years old, but she reads a lot of novels: Oliver twist, The Old Man and the Sea, Pride and Prejudice and so on. She always seek her revenge on those who hate Matilda, but it sometimes help not only herself but also other people, for example her teacher and friends. I like this brave girl.

The finish line for rubber-ball baseball
Today, I went to FUJISAKIDAI stadium for my part time job. It was the finish line for rubber-ball baseball. Kaishin high school and Kumamoto agricultual high school had the game and Kaishin high school won for 1-0! It took more than 4 hours because the game was interrupted by the rain. Thanks to the ground keepers, we could finish that game.
The picture is the closing ceremony and the awarding ceremony. Players are walking the diamond, on the bases.

My favorite character, SNOOPY
I have loved Snoopy since I was a baby. My father brought a stuffed toy Snoopy to the hospital when I was born. So, the stuffed toy Snoopy is the first stuffed toy which I saw. In my childhood, I was always with Snoopy so there are a lot of childhood photograph which Snoopy and I were in. I will show you an animation of Snoopy from Youtube! Please listen to Snoopy's voice.
